WordPress.com Introduced AI Agents that Can Create, Edit, and Manage Content
April 13, 2026

The WordPress.com-hosted platform embraced AI agents to write and publish posts, landing pages, and About pages; manage comments; make structural changes; update and fix metadata;Â and organize content with tags and categories.
With these new capabilities, websites can be created and run almost entirely by human-controlled AI agents. This lowers the barrier to setting up and maintaining websites
The new AI capabilities follow the introduction of MCP on WordPress.com last fall, which allows applications to provide context to LLMs.
With write capabilities, an AI agent with natural-language commands can:
- Draft and publish blog posts: The user provides copy or describes what they want to publish, and the AI agent creates the post directly.
- Build and update pages: Create landing pages, About pages, and more, complete with the site’s design specs and block patterns.
- Manage comments: Approve, reply to, or clean up comments without ever opening the dashboard.
- Organize the content: Create, rename, and restructure categories and tags across the site.
- Update media metadata: Fix alt text, captions, and titles for better accessibility and SEO.
Before creating content, the AI agent searches the theme’s design and understands its colors, fonts, spacing, and block patterns.
To enable the new functionality on their accounts, WordPress.com customers will go to wordpress.com/mcp paid plans (starting at $4) and then toggle on the capabilities they want to use. They can then connect their preferred AI client, such as Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, or any other MCP-enabled tool, and begin creating.
WordPress provided some prompt examples to spark creativity.
