President Trump Introduced the AI-Powered Government Portal 'America.gov'

President Trump launched an AI-powered government portal called America.gov and hosted a high-profile White House summit with top technology executives, including OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Anthropic’s Dario Amodei, and Elon Musk, today (see the full list of attendees below).

During the event, Trump firmly rejected federal or global restrictions on AI, stating he will “never stifle the growth of technology”. He signed an executive order officially renaming AI as “Super Intelligence” (SI) for U.S. government purposes, mandating the change across federal agencies.

“The term artificial intelligence is inaccurate because the technology is very powerful and very brilliant rather than artificial,” Trump justified.

The America.gov site was rolled out as an AI-powered “front door for the federal government,” designed to help citizens search federal databases and access public services such as passport replacements.

Despite warnings by Silicon Valley elite leaders about rogue AI agents hacking systems or the risks of recursive self-improvement, the Trump administration pushed back heavily against aggressive government oversight.

House Speaker Mike Johnson emphasized “tremendous self-regulation” and argued that existing bodies such as the Department of Justice and the FBI are sufficient to handle actors who go down a “dark and dangerous path”.

Trump explicitly ruled out any joint AI ventures or unified governance frameworks with Chinese President Xi Jinping following their meetings the previous week.

The U.S. President framed the technology as a strict zero-sum race, stating, “Whoever wins superintelligence wins… we’re leading now over China and everyone else, and I want to keep it that way”.
