OpenAI Released New Autonomous AI Agents Named "Dots"
October 6, 2026

OpenAI introduced its agentic product Dots, powered by GPT‑6 Astra.
These autonomous AI agents, known as Dots, have their own cloud computers and browser, and can also use connected apps. This means agents will navigate the web and execute tasks within their own cloud infrastructure.
Dots learn from feedback over time, can work towards goals 24/7, connect to over 4,000 apps, and are voice-enabled.
Users give them a name and make them their own.
OpenAI has begun rolling out Dots across its Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise plans at no extra cost.
Users can call Dots by starting a project in ChatGPT on desktop, web, and mobile. They can also message their dot in Slack and Teams, with texting coming soon.
For developers working on an app, Dots scopes improvements and bug fixes, builds and tests them, and brings PRs to review with attached videos showing the changes.
This isn’t the first time OpenAI has experimented with how apps could operate within its familiar chatbot interface. OpenAI seems to be trying to make ChatGPT the place where software can be discovered, launched, and used by suggesting apps within the flow of conversation.
This system could give app makers another way to reach customers outside of Apple and Google’s app stores.
